BAYO OMOBORIOWO DONATES “DISCOVER NIGERIA” TO UNILAG

Official photographer to President Muhammadu Buhari; Prince Bayo Omoboriowo has donated copies of his recent project; “Discover Nigeria” to the University of Lagos.

The presentation ceremony which held on Friday, October 15, 2021 is more of a homecoming for the 2009 Pure and Applied Chemistry graduate of UNILAG who has successfully carved a niche for himself in the art and business of photography.

While receiving the Presidential aide who also recently became a Guinness World Records title holder (for the Largest Photobook) in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS described the story of President Buhari’s chief photographer as a testimony of uncommon passion and determination, one he said should challenge and motivate every Nigerian youth.

He commended Prince Omoboriowo for the efforts and ingenuity which went into the publication and public presentation of the Discover Nigeria book project which, in turn, earned him his Guinness World Records title, adjudging it another medal to the UNILAG brand.    

Prof. Ogundipe noted that the successes, gestures and dispositions of Prince Bayo Omoboriowo especially towards his alma-mata epitomize the true essence of an alumnus.

While applauding the President’s personal photographer for the “Unabashed Creativity Hub” being a collaborative project with the Unabashed Foundation, which is being built on the UNILAG campus, the Vice-Chancellor describing it as part of efforts from friends, associates and alumni of UNILAG which have continued to account for the many visible developments on campus.

Prof. Ogundipe listed the “Unabashed Creativity Hub” as part of projects to be commissioned during the 52nd Convocation ceremonies of UNILAG slated to hold in January 2022. 

Highpoint of the visit by Prince Bayo Omoboriowo was the symbolic presentation of copies of the Discover Nigeria book project to the Vice-Chancellor and other management staff present.

Prince Bayo Omoboriowo, accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Prof. Oluwole Familoni were also at the UNILAG library where the Presidential aide had a tour of facilities and made donations of copies of the Discover Nigeria publication.
