Wednesday, February 14, 2024 was another day for the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to harvest from its orchard of collaborations and partnerships, as Aspira Nigeria Ltd, makers of the popular Viva laundry brand, donated a brand-new laundromat to the University.
Speaking at the official commissioning of the facility, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Lucian Chukwu, commended the company for being a willing and reliable partner of UNILAG.
“Aspira Nigeria Limited, today, makes a full and total donation of this laundromat to the University of Lagos. It is another expression of the company’s personality as a willing and reliable partner of the University. We commend Aspira for their sense of social responsibility; and we promise to take full and responsible ownership of the facility”, he said.
Viva Brand Manager, Mr. Kazeem Animashahun, represented the Managing Director of Aspira Nigeria Limited at the event. He had good words for the Management and students of the University and promised the company’s continued support.
“Students of the University of Lagos are our passionate customers. This laundromat is therefore our way of identifying with them, our modest way of contributing to their aspirations. The Management of the University has also been very supportive of this project and for that, we are grateful. Aspira Nigeria Ltd will continue to support the University of Lagos. It is in our mutual interests to do so”.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, commissioned the Viva Laundromat on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. She extolled the commitment of Aspira Nigeria Ltd to Corporate Social Responsibility and affirmed the readiness of the University to be a worthy custodian of the donation.
She said, “On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, we thank you. We recall the support of Aspira for the University during our hosting of the NUGA Games. This is another evidence of your commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. It is our hope that this will be replicated in other locations across the campus.”
The Viva Laundromat is located at the Faculty of Education area, on the road to Queen Amina Hall.
Thereafter, the Management team went to Jaja Hall Complex to commission the newly renovated facility, also sponsored by Aspira Nigeria Ltd.
