Dr. Olusola F. Olowoselu of the Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos has been selected as one of the participants in the 2019 edition of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Visitor Training Program (VTP).
ASH is the world’s largest professional society serving both clinicians and scientists around the world who are working to conquer blood diseases.
VTP is designed to help build hematology capacity in low- and middle-income countries by providing funding for hematologists and hematology-related health care professionals in these regions to receive up to 12 weeks of training on a specific topic or technique.
The training is designed to address a specific hematology need and is carried out in the clinic or laboratory of an ASH member, under his/her supervision and mentorship.
Based on his selection to participate in this training program, Dr. Olowoselu will be awarded the amount of $7,000 for his training between August 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. The award money covers visa fees, round-trip airfare, accommodations, and daily living expenses for the duration of the training. His training will take place at Emory University, a private research University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Upon completion of the training program, Dr. Olowoselu will return to the University of Lagos to implement his newly acquired knowledge and skills.
