Two visiting professors under the African Engineering and Technology Network (AFRETEC) will arrive the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
The visiting professors: Professor Sarath Tennakoon (Head, Renewable Energy, Faculty of Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University, Rwanda) and Professor Siphila Wanjiku Mumenya (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nairobi) are members of the AFRETEC Seed Grant team working on the project: Application of AI Techniques for Extracting Carbon from Landfill Waste for Renewable Energy .
During the visit, the delegation will visit the University’s Vice-Chancellor Office, Research Management Office, Office of International Relations, Partnership and Prospects (IRPP) and Faculty of Engineering, with a view to expanding the scope of their collaboration with UNILAG. The team will also be at the Olusosun landfill for a group discussion with stakeholders on their research project.
The African Engineering and Technology Network (AFRETEC) and University of Lagos (UNILAG) have several collaborative research projects including the AFRETEC-UNILAG Innovation-in-Health Challenge 2025 among others.
