The newly appointed Chairman, Court of Governors, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Dr. Aderemi Desalu mni has assured of his readiness to work with the board and the present management of the College with a view to repositioning it to on a sustainable growth-oriented trend.
According to a statement by Dr Desalu, he appreciated the Chancellor, His Eminence Alh (Dr) Abubakar Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the Pro-Chancellor, Prince (Dr.) Olanrewaju Tejuoso and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS for his appointment with an assurance not to let them down.
While thanking all the previous boards and management teams of the College of Medicine, Dr. Desalu noted that he is aware of the challenges of the College and the efforts of all concerned stakeholders to reposition.
The newly appointed Chairman, Court of Governors outlined his areas of focus to include; Students, Staff, Research, Environment and Alumni. he emphasized the need for all stakeholders to be mindful of the issues of brain drain, job satisfaction, and other National issues.
Dr. Desalu advocated a pragmatic approach to addressing brain-drain especially from the point of students’ admission to the college till students’ graduation.
Dr Desalu stressed the need for all board members, management, staff, students and other stakeholders to see, think and appreciate the links involved in Nation Building and Development.
Dr Aderemi Desalu’s appointment took effect on Monday, August 16, 2021, its for a term of 4 years.
