Another UNILAG Don Bags UASP Fellowship, To Visit U.S. University

Dr Basirat Oyalowo of the Department of Estate Management/Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development, University of Lagos has been selected as a finalist to participate in the University Administration Support Program (UASP) Fellowship in Research Management.

The programme is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and administered by IREX.

The selection followed her completion of a (two-semester) UASP Research Management and Leadership online course which commenced in October 2020.

Dr Basirat Oyalowo’s selection will see her embarking on a physical visit to the United States for a 5-week period between October 3, 2021 and November 5, 2021.

During the visit, she will be joining other participants from not less than 18 universities across and beyond Africa to undergo a 7-day training as well as discussions with other UASP cohort of fellows.

The visit will afford Dr. Basirat Oyalowo an opportunity to further broaden her scope around research through exchange and sharing of ideas with other participants, build contacts, expand her network as well as observe research management practices in the universities, It will also enable her to build on the online exchange already established with her host University (Clemson University) where she is already developing collaborative partnerships for departments in the Built Environment.

On completion and in line with the objective of the fellowship, Dr. Basirat Oyalowo will use the experience garnered to further refine a reform plan that would further strengthen research management in the University of Lagos.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, heartily congratulates Dr Basirat Oyalowo on her selection as a finalist to participate in the University Administration Support Program (UASP) Fellowship in Research Management.

While wishing Dr. Oyalowo a fruitful and successful engagement during her planned trip to the United States of America, Professor Ogundipe implores her to make the best use of the UASP fellowship opportunity for value addition to herself and the University of Lagos.
