President, West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP); Distinguished Professor Cecilia Ihuoma Igwilo has added another feather to her cap as she emerged the Vice-President, ECOWAS Regional Council for Health Professionals Education (ERCHPE).
At the election which held as part of the Council’s meeting at Lome, Togo between July 29th and 30th, 2021, the Vice President, West African College of Physicians in Togo; Professor Angon A Koffi Balogin was elected as the President of the Council.
Prof. Cecilia Ihuoma Igwilo is Nigeria’s first female professor of Pharmacy having become one in 1994. She attended the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife) where she bagged a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with First Class honours in 1977 and a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutics in 1979. She obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmacy in 1983 from Chelsea College, University of London.
Prof. Igwilo served as the Acting Head/Head, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology from 1993-1999, she was Dean, School of Pharmacy, University of Lagos from 2001 to 2003. She has also served as Director, Academic Planning Unit (2006-2012) and Director, School of Foundation Studies (2012-2016)
Prof. Igwilo is also the First Vice President of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP) in 2017 and served as the Chief Examiner, Editor in Chief and Chairman, Faculty of Drug Production and Quality Assurance of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists.
