Mr. Alimi Ibrahim Adedeji was the cynosure of all eyes at Day 2 of the ongoing 2019 Convocation Ceremonies. Endless rounds of applause attended every mention of his name as he was called to the podium to receive the numerous awards won as a testament to his diligence. He was the Best Graduating Student in Engineering and the Overall Best Graduating Student in the entire university. He finished with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
In his address to the graduating students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, apologised for the initial postponement of the ceremonies and commended them for their resilience. He charged them to be good ambassadors of the UNILAG brand and expressed confidence in their ability to excel out there in the world.
The Pro-Chancellor, Distinguished Senator (Dr) Olanrewaju Tejuoso, also congratulated the graduands on their notable feats. He encouraged them to see Nigeria as their own and a country deserving of their very best. He admonished them stay behind to contribute to Nigeria’s greatness and not run away in search of greener pasture.
In addition to the conferment of Bachelor degrees on graduands from the Faculties of Engineering, Law, Management Sciences, Science, Pharmacy, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, and the Distance Learning Institute, the second day of the Convocation Ceremonies also witnessed the conferment of Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters degrees on graduands from across the faculties.
Very pleased and delighted parents, families and well wishers of the graduands were on hand to add colour to the ceremonies.
The Convocation Ceremonies continue on Thursday, June 8, 2021 with the award of doctorate and honorary doctorate degrees.
