The students of the Department of Architecture, on Friday, June 25, 2021, students put their creative dexterity on display at the ARCREATE 2.0.
According to the Ag Head of Department, Dr. Nnezi Uduma-Olugu, ARCREATE 2.0 is the second edition of an annual departmental event conceived as an avenue for Architecture students to showcase the various shades of their artistic prowess, while keeping faith with the accuracy and precision of Environmental Science.

On display were creative works ranging from Button Artistry to Fashion Designing; and from Photography to Interior Design.
Button Artist Buhari Torifat used her work to call attention to the plight of the African woman and canvased for a better life for the womenfolk. Fashion Designers Amaka Nwegbu and Atunrase Kayode, in their respective displays, showcased the versatility of the Architecture student of the University of Lagos. Their designs spoke of the excellence of African couture and the connection that must necessarily exist between fabrics worn and the environment wherein they are used. Photographer Olaniyan Oluwapelumi also showed how the Architect could tells stories of his environment through his lens.



The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, was on hand to declare the event open. He showered praises on all the student exhibitionists and urged the departmental leadership to ensure that the exhibition was repeated at the Sofoluwe Park to a larger audience during the Convocation Ceremonies. He commended the department for giving room for students to explore the creative and entrepreneurial dimensions of their training. He also charged them to link up with the university’s Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre (ESDC) to explore business training and funding opportunities.
