Top officials of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB) paid a working visit to the University of Lagos on Thursday, 24th of June, 2021.
Led by Dr. Daziba Patrick Obah, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, the officers were received at the office of the Vice – Chancellor at the Senate Building.
Dr. Obah expressed the desire of the local content development body to collaborate with the academia on various areas of knowledge-to-industry transfer, starting with the University of Lagos. He commended the focus of UNILAG on demand-driven, solution-oriented research as evident in the many feats reported in national and international media. He invited the University of Lagos to the upcoming Research & Development Fair and Conference to be organised by the NCDMB later in the year. He also announced the intention of the NCDMB to establish a Professorial Chair at the university.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, appreciated Dr. Obah for his vision of collaboration with the academia, which he described as “fertile grounds for solution-driven research”. He assured him of the readiness of UNILAG to maximise whatever opportunities that arise from the interaction to the benefit of both institutions and the nation as a whole.
On hand to make presentations to the visiting team were the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Elijah Oyeyemi; Director of the Office of Research and Innovation, Professor Bola Oboh; and Acting Director of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre, Dr Sunday Adebisi.
The NCDMB officials, as part of their itinerary, also visited the Office of Research and Innovation and the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre (ESDC).
