Members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) community who use Turnitin are hereby informed that the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) process has now been activated as a mandatory security requirement for accessing Turnitin accounts and associated privileges.
The new authentication process was introduced by Turnitin to strengthen account security, protect institutional data, and comply with contemporary cybersecurity standards.
New Sign-In Procedure
Effective immediately, the procedure for signing in to Turnitin is as follows:
- Enter your normal Turnitin username/email address and password.
- A one-time verification code will be sent automatically to the email address registered with your Turnitin account.
- Enter the verification code to complete the login process.
- The verification code remains valid for 15 minutes.
Users are advised to:
- Ensure that the email address linked to their Turnitin account is valid, active, and accessible.
- Check the Spam/Junk folder if the verification email is not received in the inbox within a few minutes.
- Avoid sharing passwords or verification codes with any other person.
- Contact the University support channel via turnitinadmin@unilag.edu.ng or fazeez@unilag.edu.ng if you encounter challenges accessing the email address associated with your Turnitin account.
Please note that Two-Factor Authentication process is mandatory and cannot be disabled or deferred.
Members of the University community are therefore encouraged to take note of this additional requirement to ensure uninterrupted access to Turnitin services.
