Today, the University of Lagos held the Commissioning of the Remodelled Senate House Foyer sponsored by a renowned alumnus of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, who is also the Founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Ministries.
Dr. Olukoya made the commitment to renovate the foyer, as part of the P3P Strategy (Pick a Project; a Programme; a Person) initiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, in 2018. The erudite scholar made this commitment during his courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor ahead of his ministration at the “UNILAG Prays” programme that held at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Halls, on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
The P3P Strategy, which simply translates to Pick a Project; a Programme; a Person, was created to address some of the challenges faced by the University Management in mobilising financial support from alumni and friends of the University for the implementation of critical projects in the University.
Dr. Olukoya has been a true ambassador of the University of Lagos at heart and in deed. He has not only contributed intellectually and financially to the University, but has also portrayed beyond doubt that the very essence of the University vision, which is the pursuit of excellence in knowledge, character and service to humanity.
The University of Lagos has been privileged to receive donations of the D. K. Olukoya Central Research Laboratory, five industrial bore-hole and various scholarship awards for our students from Dr. Olukoya.
In worthy recognition of his consistent acts of service and promotion of research, teaching and learning in the University of Lagos and the nation at large, Dr. Olukoya was bestowed with the award of Doctors of Science (honoris causa) at the #Unilag2018Convocation
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, on behalf of the Management, Staff, Students and members of the University community, deeply appreciates Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, for the sponsorship of the remodelling of the Senate House Foyer and his ever impactful influence in his alma mater.
The remarkable deeds and life of Dr. Olukoya is indeed reminiscent of the saying by Hada Bejar that “The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose.” It serves as an inspiration to us all to actively make positive impact in our dear citadel of learning and nation Nigeria.
