The University of Lagos (UNILAG), on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, recorded another significant milestone in its strategic partnership with the United States Mission in Nigeria with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art “Window on America” facility on campus.
The centre was formally commissioned by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, alongside the U.S. Consul General, Rick Swart.

UNILAG was selected to host the Window on America (WoA) in acknowledgment of its strong academic reputation, vibrant students’ population, and strategic location in Lagos, making it an ideal hub for educational outreach and community engagement.
Speaking at the event, Professor Ogunsola said the project reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for both students and faculty. She emphasized that such collaborations are critical to advancing academic excellence, innovation, and global exposure.

She noted that the facility also reinforces UNILAG’s position as a forward-looking institution dedicated to building impactful international partnerships and enriching the academic experience of its community.
In his remarks, the United States Consul General to Nigeria, Rick Swart, disclosed that the facility is the third of its kind in Nigeria, underscoring the Mission’s commitment to fostering educational and cultural ties.
Members of the U.S. Mission delegation were particularly excited over the central location of the facility within the University, noting its accessibility and potential to attract a high level of student participation.

WoA, UNILAG is an educational and cultural resource centre established through a partnership between UNILAG and the United States (US) Mission in Nigeria. The centre provides access to information, digital resources, and programmes designed to promote learning, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship, technology skills, and cultural exchange.
Located directly opposite the UNILAG Main Library, the newly established space is equipped to host a wide range of physical engagements including interactive sessions, lectures, trainings, workshops, and discussions. The facility also features a podcast studio and a sit-out area, creating a dynamic environment for creativity, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

The centre is open to students, faculty members, researchers, and members of the wider community who are interested in personal development, professional growth, and global engagement.
