Today, July 23, 2020, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim (Pantami) formally commissioned the state-of-the-art National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) IT hub at the University of Lagos (and other intervention projects of departments and agencies under the supervision of the Ministry).
This event was held physically at Abuja, NITDA IT Hub, along FSS road, UNILAG and virtually via Zoom Conferencing. The event was attended by a number of dignitaries. After brief remarks from the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN; Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta and several important dignitaries, the various recipients of projects proceeded with their commissioning which was captured live on ZOOM.
The Chief Host of the event, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim (Pantami), while making his address, hinted at, among other things that the ICT Hubs established in both the University of Lagos and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria are not only for students, but for all Nigerians with skills who choose to go there and incubate their ideas.
The other Intervention Projects of Departments and agencies which were also commissioned in other states of the Federation include:
- Tertiary Institution Knowledge Centre, FCE Iwollo, Enugu State (USPF)
- NIGCOMSAT Northwest Regional Office, Kaduna State (NIGCOMSAT)
- Emergency Communications Centre, Katsina State (NCC)
- IT Community Centre, Katsina State (NITDA)
- IT Hub, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State (NITDA).
The NITDA IT hub was planned for and executed under the NITDEF intervention project and was completed a while ago.
