UNILAG Concludes 56th Convocation Ceremonies with Thanksgiving Service

Activities marking the 56th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos concluded on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with a special Thanksgiving Service held at the Chapel of Christ Our Light on the University campus.

The service was attended by members of the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, alongside principal officers, staff, students and other stakeholders. The congregation offered songs of praise and thanksgiving to God for the peaceful and successful conduct of the convocation ceremonies, as well as for the stability and sustained growth the University has enjoyed over the years.

Prof. Ogunsola personally offered a worship song to acknowledge God as the cornerstone of the 56th Convocation Ceremonies. She also appreciated members of staff,  students and stakeholders for their steadfast support throughout the ceremonies.

In his sermon, Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ Our Light, Rev. Azuka Ogbolumani, congratulated the entire university community on a successful outing for the 56th Convocation ceremonies. He also offered prayers for the University and its leadership, led by the Vice-Chancellor, who was accompanied by her husband, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsola, FCA.

His homily was anchored on the importance of walking in God’s covenant, embracing His promises and being in alignment with God’s will.

Other highlights of the thanksgiving service were: presentation of plaques to members of university management in appreciation of their exemplary services and announcement of winners of the Chapel’s prizes for its 2025 Best Graduating Students.
