HUAWEI ORGANISES CAMPUS TALK AND JOB FAIR IN ICT

On Tuesday November 19, 2019 the Afe Babalola Auditorium of the University of Lagos witnessed the convergence of participants across several higher institutions of learning to the Huawei Technologies Campus Talk and Job Fair.

According to the Channel Training Manager, Huawei Nigeria, Mr. Kenneth Igwe, the one-day campus talk and job fair was to complete the circle of the Huawei ICT talent ecosystem development, where Huawei trains and certify students, and then provide them with work and experience opportunities.” He went further to acknowledge the partnership with other ICT based companies in this regard.

Earlier the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) Prof. Ben Oghojafor thanked Huawei for organising the fair. He posited that the company was on a right part and that the program will enable participants (students) to interact directly with the tech firm staff and prepare them for future careers in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

He however challenged the participants across several higher institutions of learning to do well with the opportunity in attending a job fair, as such platforms will prepare them for the task that lies ahead for them.

It would be recalled that in 2016, Huawei Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to inaugurate its Innovation and Experience Centre and the Joint Open Lab at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science.

The fair also had in attendance the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) Yetunde Zaid; Director, Quality Assurance and SERVICOM, Prof. Grace Otinwa; Dean, Student Affairs Division, Prof. Ademola Adeleke and the Ag.Head Department of Computer Science, Dr. Sennaike.
