As part of strategic moves aimed at deepening academic cooperation and international partnerships, the University of Lagos Management, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, hosted a delegation from the University of Venda, South Africa.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), UNILAG, Professor Muyiwa Falaiye, received the team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS. According to him, the visit marked another significant step in expanding the University’s global engagement footprints while fostering meaningful academic and research alliances.


Prof. Falaiye restated UNILAG’s commitment to the existing MOU between the two institutions, especially with a view to conquering barriers and promoting the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge across continents.


In his remarks, the Registrar of the University of Venda, Dr. Joel Baloyi who led the delegation, appreciated the milestones of UNILAG especially in innovation, cultural development and institutional integrity. He added that “these milestones make UNILAG a force to reckon with among the comity of ivory towers”.
Dr. Baloyi expressed the delegation’s intention to hold talks with the University Management with a view to reviewing the existing MOU, measuring the progresses made so far and deciding on further specific areas of mutual interests.



The Registrar and Secretary to Council, UNILAG, Mrs. Victoria Wickliffe who was also on hand to receive the University of Venda delegation, reiterated the commitment of UNILAG to multidisciplinary research, knowledge exchange/expansion as well as pursuance of developmental research.


The visit, facilitated by the Office of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects (IRPP), UNILAG, aimed to strengthen ties between the two institutions.
