In a strategic move to catch them young , the Department of Metallurgical and Material Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG) commenced a campaign aimed at promoting awareness and eliciting the interest of Science inclined secondary school students around the University’s environment, in Glass and Ceramics Technology.
The campaign which began on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Yabatech Secondary School, continued on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at International School, Lagos (ISL).

The programme provided a platform for the Acting Head of Department, Dr. Henry Mgbemere along with Dr. Lawrence Osoba (Associate Professor and immediate past Ag. HoD Metallurgical and Materials Engineering), to tutor students on the basics of ceramics and glass, and the many inherent benefits to be gained from the field of Material Science and Engineering.

The practical session was conducted with Material Science Classroom kits donated by two (2) alumni of the Department, Messrs.
