Professor Timothy Nubi of the Department of Estate Management and Dr Sunday Adebisi of the Department of Business Administration have done the University of Lagos proud again.
As Director of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence for Urbanization and Habitable Cities and Acting Director of the ARUA Centre of Excellence for Unemployment and Skills Development, respectively, they have won a combined sum of £1.2m (over ₦485m) as a research grant from the United Kingdom Research and Innovation Global Challenges Research Fund.
Professor Timothy Nubi won the grant for the African Research Network for Urbanisation and Habitable Cities, while Dr Sunday Adebisi secured the grant for Partnership, Research and Capacity Building for Youth Unemployment Solutions in Africa. The research grants took effect from Sunday, September 1 and will end on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
The grants are for the development of integrated solutions that would maximise employment opportunities and enhance the future of work in Africa. They are also to provide a strategic platform for developing research capacities in African institutions to address Sustainable Development Goals, using the hub and spoke models that would increase collaboration among African research teams from diverse disciplines.
