UNILAG Takes the Lead in Second Edition of Global Management Challenge

Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) from various faculties have done the University proud by performing excellently in the ongoing second edition of Global Management Challenge (GMC).

Ninety-six (96) students from the University of Lagos and University of Ibadan were selected to participate in the competition for a period of six (6) weeks. The participants were grouped into 33 teams in the first round and the best four teams from the two institutions competed at the national final today, Thursday, May 30, 2019.

The winner from this final round will represent Nigeria in Russia come July, 2019.

The four teams from UNILAG that scaled through the first round are:

It will be recalled that the University of Lagos also emerged victorious in the first edition of the Global Management Challenge, which made them qualify for the international phase of the competition that held at Dubai last year.

As the competition nears its end, the fourth quarter results of the National Finals has Team Tetra from the University of Lagos in the lead with back-to-back growth. Team Monolith from University of Ibadan comes close behind in second position, as Team Prime from UNILAG holds the third position.

Soon we will know the team that will make it to the International Finals in Russia.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, on behalf of the Management, staff and students of the University of Lagos, wishes Team UNILAG, success in the competition.

 

Global Management Challenge (GMC) 2019
GMC is the largest Strategy and Management Competition in the world based on Business Simulation competition started since 1980 and more than 700,000 University students have participated from all over the continent. It happened for the first time in Nigeria in the year 2018. The Competition featured eighty (80) University of Lagos students who were divided into various teams of Coca Cola products of which four (4) of the students in team Four Coke emerged winners and represented the Country in the Global Challenge in Dubai.
