The Executives of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) led by its current President and pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Sola Akinrinade, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
The executives were accompanied by other members of the Academy, such as its immediate past President and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Sciences), Prof. Duro Oni and immediate past Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. Olufunke Adeboye.




The visit was ahead of the Academy’s 26th Convocation and Investiture of New Fellows scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, UNILAG.
The event will feature the induction of Dr. Bukar Usman (founder of Dr. Bukar Usman Foundation and President of Nigerian Folklore Society) and Dr. Wale Okediran (past president of the Association of Nigerian Authors and current Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association: PAWA), as Honorary Fellows of NAL. The following notable personalities will also be inducted as Overseas Fellows:
- Prof Hakeem Ibikunle Tijani, Commissioner at the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture & pioneer Executive Director of the Office of Global Partnerships-Africa at Morgan State University;
- Prof. Abiodun Salawu, Professor of Communication and Director of Indigenous Language Media in Africa (ILMA) Research Entity at North West University, South Africa; and
- Prof. Emerita Omofolabo A. Ajayi-Soyinka, Professor of Women’s Studies, Theatre & Film, and African-American Studies.
