Provost, CMUL
The sixteenth (16th) Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), Professor Ademola Ayodele, OREMOSU(MB;BS; M.Sc; Ph.D. (Lagos), dip. Res. Ethics, FASN, FNSN, FAMedS, FNAMed) of the Department of Anatomy, assumed office on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was born March 4, 1965. He attended Maryland Convent Private School and Maryland Comprehensive Secondary school, both in Ikeja for his primary and secondary school education. He obtained his GCE ‘A’ level in 1983 after attending Lagos State College of Science and Technology, Ikosi campus (now LASUSTECH).
Prof. Oremosu attended the College of Medicine, University of Lagos between 1983 and 1988 and obtained his MBBS degree. He was a House Officer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba from 1988 to 1989 and was the Medical officer of Health at Imasayi Primary Health Care Centre, Yewa North LGA of Ogun State during his NYSC.
He was employed as a lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, University of Lagos on 8th October 1991. He obtained a Master’s degree in Anatomy in 1993 and Ph.D. in 2009.
Professor Oremosu is a member of several associations and societies including Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Neuroscience Society of Nigeria, Society of Neuroscientist in Africa, Society for Neurochemistry, American Society for Men’s health, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, Society of Experimental and Clinical Anatomy of Nigeria, Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria, The Endocrine Society, Society for the Study of Pain in Nigeria and the Movement Disorders Society.
Professor Ademola Oremosu has served the University (his alma matar) in several capacities as Member of the Board of School of Postgraduate Studies, member of the Academic board of the College of Medicine, first sub-dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, member of the Senate Ceremonies and Business Committees, Senate representative of the Court of Governors of the College of Medicine, acting Head of Department of Anatomy, first Chairman of the Animal Care and Use in Research Ethics Committee of CMUL, Director of the Medilag Consult and the immediate past University Orator.
Prof Ademola Oremosu has trained over 12,000 undergraduate students across several disciplines including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Nursing, Radiography and Medical Laboratory Science. He has successfully supervised 30 Masters’ Degree students and 10 Ph.D. He has been a resource person for several faculties of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria such as Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Psychiatry, Medical Microbiology, Dentistry and Family dentistry.
Professor Oremosu has over 95 papers in both national and international reputable journals. His research interest are in Microscopic Anatomy, Germ Cell Manipulation, Reproductive Endocrinology and Neuroscience.
Professor Oremosu has been external examiner to several Universities both within and outside Nigeria including Universities of Ilorin, Jos, Calabar, OAU Ile-Ife, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ekiti State University, EkoUNIMED and University of Kwazulu natal, South Africa.
He is a certified level 2 Design Thinking Coach and a certified Entrepreneurship and Innovation trainer.
Professor Ademola Oremosu is a foundation fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine.
He finds time for spiritual matters, he is a pastor in charge of zone in Lagos Province 2 of the Redeemed Christian church of God, member of the Redeemed Christian Staff Fellowship of the University of Lagos, Adviser to the Redeemed Christian Fellowship (students) and President, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International Medilag Executive Chapter. Prof Ademola Oremosu is a member of the College of Medicine Staff Club, Idi Araba and The Ilisan Club, Ilisan Remo.
Professor Ademola Oremosu’s hobbies include brisk walking, bicycle riding, reading and travelling.
He is happily married to Dr. Mrs. Omotayo Oremosu, an Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, College of Medicine, University of Lagos and Consultant Prosthodontist to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba and their union is blessed.
