CHSD is an African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urbanization and Habitable Cities. It was established to equip policy makers, law makers, housing providers and researchers with the appropriate tools for profitable, affordable housing provision. CHSD pioneers new ways of housing provision and management, reviews current and emerging practice in the housing industry and supports those who have the responsibility for proffering policies to manage the housing situation in Nigeria and Africa.
The Guest Speaker, Professor Robert Ackrill researches on a wide range of applications and interests with an underpinning focus on theories that analyse and explain the drivers and dynamics of public policy. His particular interest in the informal economy explores questions around access to urban space and the regulation of informal activities that move around the urban environment, notably street hawking and informal mobility.
