Management of the University of Lagos, on Monday, March 25, 2024, received a team from the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Led by Architect Adedayo Odeyemi, the ARCON Panel is in UNILAG for the accreditation of programmes in the Department of Architecture.
In his remarks, Arc. Odeyemi pointed out that UNILAG has, over the years, maintained a record of meeting expectations during accreditation exercises. He expressed confidence that the university management and the department will again tick the panel’s boxes and assured of an objective review from the ARCON panel.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola OON, FAS, said the university places a high premium on all its programmes in the Department of Architecture.
To the delight of the ARCON panel, Prof. Ogunsola announced the university senate’s approval for an upgrade of the Department of Architecture into a full-fledged Faculty and also reeled out management’s spirited efforts in ensuring a hitch-free transition.
While assuring the ARCON panel of cooperation from the department in ensuring smooth delivery of its mandate, the Vice-Chancellor said management would look forward to the panel’s report to leverage for necessary improvements which would make UNILAG Architecture the best not only in Nigeria but also beyond.
Present at the courtesy visit by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Accreditation Panel were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Prof. Lucian Obinna-Chukwu, Acting Registrar, Mrs Olakunle Makinde and the University Bursar, Mrs Oluwafunmilola Adekunle.
