The United States of America (USA) is set to launch “Window on America” at the University of Lagos.

The “Window of America” will be a walk-in hub where students would obtain information about studying in the United States as well as experience the American culture.

This was mentioned at an interactive forum organised by the United States Consulate General, Lagos in collaboration with University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The forum featured brief remarks from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS; Assistant Secretary of State, U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Lee Satterfield and a little tête-à-tête between Prof. Ogunsola and Lee Satterfield.

The Vice-Chancellor, in her remarks, mentioned that UNILAG has a good relationship with the United States, with about 38 Fulbright scholars in the University. She noted that “UNILAG is focused on becoming the go-to-spot in terms of research and data in Nigeria”.

Lee Satterfield highlighted some of programmes offered by the U.S. Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau in Nigeria. Among other things, she noted that her country enjoys a good relationship with Nigeria and that Nigerians constitute a large number of students in U. S.

She also mentioned several other initiatives which will soon be launched. These include: African Creative TV initiative, the American Music Partnership programme, and Community College initiative. More information concerning study options in the US can be obtained via @usinnigeria on social media.

With the aim of strengthening the relationship between the United States of America and Nigeria, Lee Satterfield’s visit is a follow-up to the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken’s visit to Nigeria in January 2024.
