Members of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), University of Lagos (UNILAG) Chapter have elected a new set of Executive Officers to pilot the affairs of the chapter for the next two years.

The new Ex-Cos were elected at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the UNILAG Chapter held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Arthur Mbanefo Digital Resource Centre.

Prof. A. A. Sulaimon

The Dean of the Faculty of Management Science, UNILAG, Prof. A. A. Sulaimon was on hand to deliver the Management Talk on “Teamwork and Performance Enhancement”. In a very demonstrative manner, he impressed upon the audience the need for any successful organisation to embrace teamwork.

“According to Charles Clark Jnr., the word TEAM means Together Each Achieves More. Indeed, it is only by working together that we can achieve anything substantive and sustainable. One mind, united and focused on a clear goal, is what separates a Team from a Group. A Group is a bunch of men with disparate minds. A Team is a coming together of different people, forged into one heart, to achieve a common objective”, he said.

The Professor of Management used a lot of visuals – pictures and videos – to drive home his point.

Change of Guard

Immediately after the well-received lecture, the Chapter went into a business session, the highlight of which was election of the new Executive Officers and the handover from the outgoing Excos. There was also the formal presentation of the Chapter’s mentoring programme and the unveiling of its monograph, titled: “Management Excellence”.

The outgoing Chairman, Dr. Dorcas Nyalas-Omeire, MNIM expressed her gratitude to all members of the chapter for their support. She enjoined all members to extend same to the incoming executives, so that the UNILAG Chapter of NIM will continue to maintain the standard of excellent performance for which it has long been recognised.
