The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has formally admitted Four Hundred and Fifty (450) new students under the 2022/2023 class of its Sandwich Programme.
The new students, in their matriculating gowns, gathered at the Faculty of Education Auditorium on Friday, November 24, 2023 for their matriculation ceremony.
The momentous occasion was an opportunity for the new students to be officially inducted into the academic community of the university.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Bola Oboh led other senior members of staff of the university including the Acting Registrar; Mrs. Olakunle Makinde, and Bursary Representative, Mr. Aluko to the event.
Other faculty members, and staff who witnessed the event include: Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Bayo Oladipo; Director of UNILAG Safeguarding Centre, Mopelola Ayoka Olusakin; Director, Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika; Coordinator, Sandwich Programme, Dr. Akeem Adekunle amongst others.
In an address delivered at the ceremony, the Director of the Institute of Continuous Education (ICE), Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, welcomed the new students and emphasized the university’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering a conducive learning environment.
Her address was followed by the administration of the matriculation oath, with the new students pledging their commitment to upholding the academic integrity and values of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic & Research) Professor Bola Oboh congratulated the matriculating students, and encouraged them to embrace their studies with dedication and perseverance.
She highlighted the importance of hard work, discipline, and ethical conduct in achieving academic success and urged the students to make the most of their time at UNILAG.
