Three teams of the National Universities Commission (NUC) have arrived the University of Lagos for the accreditation of its Law, Accounting and Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM) programmes
Following their arrival, the University’s Director of Academic Planning, Professor Mathew Olusoji Ilori led the NUC teams to the Senate House, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS on Monday, November 20, 2023. They were received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa along with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Professor Bola Oboh; and Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde.
While welcoming and appreciating the NUC accreditation teams, Professor Atsenuwa emphasized the importance of the accreditation exercise as a quality assurance process. She reiterated the institution’s commitment to high academic standards, adding that “UNILAG is dedicated to ensuring that all its programmes meet the required benchmarks.”
In response, Professor I. N. Sada of the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria who spoke on behalf of the three delegations underscored the importance of maintaining rigorous academic standards and continuous improvement within higher education institutions. His words, “…we will look, observe, and come up with proper recommendations on the level of compliance of the university.”
He acknowledged the university’s warm reception since their arrival, and assured of a viable accreditation exercise.
