The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, OON, FAS, is set to deliver the 2023 Horatio Oritsejolomi Thomas Distinguished Guest Lecture, with the title, “Cities, People and Bugs: Perspectives on Combating Antimicrobial Resistance in Nigeria.”

Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola is a Medical Microbiologist renowned for her contributions to antibiotic resistance, infection control and HIV. She has one hundred and forty-two (142) publications in reputable academic journals and has co-authored four (4) books on these topics. She consults for the World Health Organisation (WHO); Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); and the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Infection Prevention and Control.
She is the first female Vice-Chancellor at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria; a member of many professional associations; and in May 2023, Professor Ogunsola was conferred the honour of an Officer of the Order of the Niger by the immediate past President of Nigeria, Rtd. General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
