The 3rd International Week of the University of Lagos entered Day 2 on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 with partners converging to brainstorm and share experiences around the theme of the programme: “Breaking the Borders of Partnership”.
Proceedings for the day which held at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall kicked off with a keynote presentation by Professor Jo Angouri from the University of Warwick. She shared her thoughts on how higher institutions can achieve transnational cooperation to facilitate education programmes and award joint degrees.
The Professor of Sociolinguistics gave insights into the internationalization efforts and milestones already recorded at the University of Warwick, which according to her, are all anchored on creating visibility and sustaining relevance without prejudice to personal choices and programmes’ flexibility for students.

She advocated pedagogic innovations to position education as a tool for continuous change and disruption, formulation of policies and regulatory frameworks which would eradicate bottlenecks and articulation of value-added international policies for education.
Egg heads on the panel were: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Service), UNILAG, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, Director, Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, UNILAG, Professor Olumuyiwa Falaiye; Professor Peter McEleavy of the University of Dundee and Managing Director, West Africa of DOW Chemical, Mr Adebisi Adeoti.

They all shared different points of view to illustrate the many benefits of institutional collaborations and partnerships. The panellists also emphasised the indispensability of recognising and respecting institutional diversities while forging partnerships.

The panel had on board, Professor Kimberly Jacob Arriola of the Emory University alongside Professor Abimbola Sowemimo, Professor Kehinde Umeizudike, Dr Lara Ojo and Dr Adesina Arikawe, all from UNILAG.
