NASoW President Pays Courtesy Call on Vice-Chancellor

The National President, Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Alhaji Mashood Mustapha has revealed that the 2023 International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), Africa Region Conference will hold at the University of Lagos. The Conference which is the first edition to be held in Nigeria and West Africa, is slated between November 22 and 24, 2023.

The disclosure was made on Thursday, September 7, 2023, when members of the Association including the Head of Department, Social Work in the university, Professor C. R Nwanna paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola OON, FAS.

In his remarks, Alhaji Mustapha who is an alumnus of the University paid glowing tributes on the Vice Chancellor whom he described as a true game changer.

While alluding to the stature of the university as enormous, he commended the Vice-Chancellor for continuing to find a way to steer the UNILAG ship forward.

He also briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the Association’s upcoming activities, and its advocacy drive to shape legislation and public policy that protects and strengthens the social work profession; promotes health, welfare, and education; strengthens opportunities and social supports for individuals and families.

In her response, Professor Ogunsola welcomed the team and appealed to the Association to remain focused on its vision.

NASoW which was established in 1975, currently has over four thousand members in Nigeria.
