Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, led the ‘‘UNILAG Walk for Life” Exercise which held on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Participants which included staff and students had converged in their numbers, at the UNILAG Sports Centre before the kick-off time of 7 ‘o’clock.
The exercise commenced with a walk round the track, after which participants led by Prof. Ogunsola, accompanied by principal officers and other members of the university’s management team hit the road towards the Akoka campus main gate.
Joined by other members of the university community, the crowd of participants were in high spirit as they walked through the Faculty of Education, Ransom Kuti Road to link Ade Adesola Drive and the Tafawa Balewa Road all the way to the Senate House, the heart of campus.
They walked continued through the Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe Drive back to the Tafawa Balewa Road (Eco Bank Roundabout) from where the participants then walked back to the Sports Centre.
The entire walk which lasted seventy (70) minutes recorded lots of fun moments, singing as well as calls and responses to different drills by men of the Man ‘o’ War, UNILAG Command.
The Vice-Chancellor, members of management and crowd of participants also had a mild session of physical exercise at the Sports centre.
Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, appreciated them for turning up for the UNILAG Walk for Life exercise, describing it as a tradition which has come to stay.
While underscoring the need for a sound mind in a sound body for all-round productivity, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the imperativeness of constant physical exercise in keeping a healthy lifestyle.
She expressed hopes of upscaling the UNILAG Walk for Life Exercise, with the addition of biking in no distant time.
UNILAG Walk for Life is an open, periodic workout session instituted by the university management for the purpose of engendering exercising, promoting all-round wellness among all campus residents as well as enhancing interaction between principal officers of the university and all stakeholders.
