Two (2) sets of resource teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) arrived the University of Lagos for an assessment visit on Monday, April 17, 2023 and Wednesday, April 19, 2023 respectively, to assess the University’s readiness and preparation to commence eight (8) new academic programmes.
The new programmes are:
- B. A. German
- B.Sc. Biostatistics
- B.Sc. Anatomy
- Pharm. D
- B.Sc. Public Administration
- B.Sc. Data Sciences
- Professional Masters in Police Science and Law Enforcement
- Master and Doctor of Philosophy, African Diaspora Studies
The eight (8) teams toured the faculties and departments where the programmes would be domiciled. These are: Department of European Languages, Faculty of Arts; Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science; Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Pharmacy and Institute of African & Diaspora Studies (IADS). The teams inspected the available facilities, curricula, admission requirements, library stock, among others.
At the end of assessment visits, the teams returned to the Senate Chamber where they provided feedback on available facilities (lecture theaters, office spaces, labs and equipment), curricula, course work progression and admission requirements and made recommendations.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, who had earlier received the teams on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, thanked the resource teams for their feedbacks and recommendations. She noted that the recommendations were actionable, adding that the University would pursue efforts to correct lapses and grey areas.
