Members of the Association of Nigeria University Chaplains (ANOC) have arrived at the Akoka campus of the University of Lagos for the Twenty-Fifth (25th) Anniversary Conference of the Association, being hosted by the Chapel of Christ Our Light, UNILAG. The Conference which commenced on Monday, April 17, 2023, is scheduled to end on Friday, April 21, 2023.
President of the Association, Pastor Ismael Ogboru, led the Conference delegates on a courtesy visit to the Management of the University on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
The Chaplains were received in the Senate Chamber, Senate House, by the University Management team including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. L.O. Chukwu; Registrar, Azeez Oladejo Esq; Bursar, Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Y. Adekunle and Director, Academic Planning Prof. Mopelola Olusakin.
Pastor Ismael Ogboru expressed gratitude for the warm welcome accorded the Association. He explained that the Conference had a lineup of events and activities aimed at enhancing the family unit as the bedrock of the Nigerian society. According to him, participants would, at the end of the Conference, return to their base better equipped spiritually in wisdom, understanding and knowledge.
In his remarks, the Guest Speaker of the Conference, Pastor Bola Sokoya disclosed that his relationship with the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Folasade Ogunsola FAS who was his primary schoolmate formed part of his decision to participate in the Conference. He prayed for resounding peace to reign across the University as well as its continued growth and development.
Welcoming the delegates on behalf of the University’s Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa expressed confidence that the Conference would be fulfilling and enriching.
The courtesy visit featured the presentation of goodwill tokens by Professor Atsenuwa to the Association. The items were received by Pastor Ishmael Ogboru, along with the Host-Chaplain, Reverend Azuka Ogbolumani.
