UNILAG Takes Mental Health Campaign to Halls of Residence

The Counseling Unit of the Student Affairs Division, University of Lagos has commenced a mental health campaign exercise in halls of residence across the three campuses of the university: Akoka, Yaba and Idi-Araba.

The awareness exercise is being carried out in partnership with UNILAG Anti-AIDS Club (UAAC), UNILAG Drug Free Club (UDFC), Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) and Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative. The event, witnessed by a sizeable number of students, provided a platform for enlightenment and sensitization on mental health issues such as depression and suicide as well as danger of drug abuse.

The campaign which is part of activities lined up for the on-going 2021/2022 Faculty and Hall Week, kicked off on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Moremi, Jaja, Honours and UNILAG Women Society (ULWS) Halls.

Receiving the awareness campaign team at the ULWS hall, President of University of Lagos Women Society, Dr. Folasade Ipaye noted that the campaign exercise was crucial to nurture students of the University, beyond the classroom.

The immediate past Registrar & Secretary to Council and current Director of Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre (AMDRC) pointed out that the sensitization and enlightenment programme would empower the future leaders, on the importance of body and mind discipline.

The campaign is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Biobaku, Kofo Ademola and El-kanemi Hall. For the schedule of the campaign exercise to other halls of residence, kindly click: https://unilag.edu.ng/?p=20597.
