UNILAG Senate Celebrates Prof. Ojikutu as He Retires from Service

Prof. Ojikutu Retires

The University of Lagos Senate, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, honoured Professor of Statistics, Abdur Rasheed Kola Ojikutu as he took a bow out of the university service, having reached the mandatory age of 70.

In her remarks, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, on behalf of management, staff and students, congratulated Professor Ojikutu for his illustrious service to the university, and contributions to the body of knowledge. The Vice-Chancellor prayed that God grants him good health, as well as longevity to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

In his remarks, Professor Ojikutu expressed gratitude to Allah for granting him grace in his over four-decades sojourn as a staff of the University. He also expressed gratitude to the University Senate and UNILAG community for the privilege of growth and career fulfilment.

His words, “My experience will form an encyclopedia. It is a joyful story to tell. Distinguished Senate members, you all served as catalysts of the progress of my stewardship and I appreciate you all. I am fulfilled and happy that I had the opportunity to work in this institution of higher learning”.

Born on Wednesday, April 22, 1953, into the Ojikutu family of Isheri-Olofin, Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria, Professor Abdur Rasheed Kola Ojikutu is the first Professor to be appointed in the Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance, Faculty of Business Administration (now Management Sciences), University of Lagos. He is the current Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of a sister University, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
