The International Social Work Day is an annual event usually celebrated every third Tuesday in the month of March, to highlight the achievements of social work, raise the visibility of social work services for the future of societies as well as defend social justice and human rights.

The Day was approved in 2004, at the General Meeting of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) held in Adelaide, Australia. This year’s theme: Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Action, stems from the People’s Charter for a New Eco-Social World.
