The University of Lagos announces the passage of one of its retired Professor of Cell Biology and Genetics, Professor Gabriel Olufemi Williams on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Burial arrangements announced by his family indicate that his Funeral Service will hold on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am ET (5.00 pm Nigerian Time) at St. Paul Church, 113 Engle St., Englewood, New Jersey, USA, and Interment will follow immediately at George Washington Memorial Park, 234, Paramus Road, Paramus, New Jersey, USA. Professor Williams joined the services of the University of Lagos as Lecturer II in Biology Unit, Department of Biological Sciences in 1971, and he retired as Professor of Genetics, Department of Cell Biology and Genetics on May 18, 2006. During his academic career at the University, he mentored many students and staff (teaching and non-teaching), many of whom are now leaders, captains of industry and professors in public and private sectors in Nigeria and across the world.
