Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, has congratulated a team of Interns at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) IT Hub (NITHUB), University of Lagos for their sterling performance at the Microsoft Africa Development Centre (West) Developer LearnerThon.
The Tech-event which held on Tuesday February 7, 2023 at the Microsoft Office, Ikoyi, Lagos, saw three (3) of the ten (10) NITHUB interns giving a good account of themselves during the LearnerThon Challenge by emerging among the top five (5) winners.
The NITHUB Interns were part of other 40 participants drawn from different Tech-Communities across Lagos and beyond, for the Microsoft ADC (West) Developer LearnerThon.
They were taken through; Career Talks sessions with Microsoft Software Engineers, Ask Me Anything (A.M.A. session) with Microsoft ADC Leadership and a LearnerThon challenge.
The challenge which lasted 120 minutes tested the Problem-solving skills and Web development skills of participants.
At the end of it, Seun Oluwafemi (Computer Science, 400 Level) clinched the overall best position while David Dada (Computer Science, 200 Level) and David Okunoye (Electrical Engineering, 100 Level) found spots from themselves among the top 5 winners.
Receiving the team in her office on Friday, February 10, 2023, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola applauded them for displaying the stuff UNILAG is made of in terms of knowledge, confidence and competition.
The Vice-Chancellor who was visibly elated over the many strides being recorded at NITHUB adjudged the team’s victory at the Microsoft ADC (West) Developer LearnerThon a plus for the participants and the university.
She used the avenue to interact with and elicit suggestions from the students on how the university management can improve their learning experience, she also assured them of management’s commitment towards making UNILAG Future-Ready.
In his remarks, Director of NITHUB, Dr Victor Odumuyiwa said the Microsoft ADC (West) Developer LearnerThon challenge was unscheduled and the performance of the NITHUB interns is a proof of excellence in Innovation, Ideation and Collaboration which the Hub is anchored on.
