Vice-Chancellor Ogunsola to Endorse Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), February 1

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, will endorse the Kigali Declaration on the Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

As part of events lined up to celebrate the 2023 World NTDs Day at the University of Lagos, the endorsement will take place at 10:00am at the Training Room, 1st Floor of the D.K. Olukoya Central Research & Reference Laboratories, UNILAG.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of 20 conditions that are mainly prevalent in tropical areas, where they mostly affect impoverished communities and disproportionately affect women and children. These diseases cause devastating health, social and economic consequences to more than one billion people.

The Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) is a high-level, political declaration that is mobilising political will, community commitment, resources and action, and securing commitments needed to end suffering caused by NTDs.
