Executive members of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), University of Lagos chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade T. Ogunsola, FAS on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 to celebrate her recent investiture as the 13th and 1st female Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Led by its Chairperson, Pharmacist (Dr.) Dorcas Omeire, the visit to the 11th Floor of the Senate House provided an opportunity for the Institute to discuss a number of issues with the Vice Chancellor, particularly training activities and sponsorship requests activities targeted at ensuring a wholesome and efficient workforce to all its members.
Dr. Omeire revealed the institute’s plans to raise the bar amongst its members to demonstrate professionalism and competence as effective ways to achieve success.
The Institute Boss also requested the introduction of a Students’ Scheme, with a view to ensuring NIM certification among undergraduate students. She posited that developing a hands-on approach to skills development will enhance deeper levels of learning for its members; citing that young people particularly students are now discovering just how much they can do to make the world a better place.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor thanked members of the institute for their thoughtfulness and stressed the university’s readiness to work cordially with the institute.
While reiterating the University’s commitment to the adoption of the latest technology-driven ideas towards transforming UNILAG into a 21st Century university, Prof. Ogunsola emphasized the varsity’s readiness to expose students to various leadership and management training for certification purposes, as well as to make them fit and ready for post-graduation tasks.
The NIM delegates to the Vice-Chancellor’s office included the Deputy Registrar, Staff Trainings, Mrs. Ronke Asiwaju; the Institute’s chapter Chairmen, Mr. Temidayo Akeju and Dr. Badejo amongst many others.
The highlight of the courtesy visit was the decoration of the Vice-Chancellor, the exchange of gifts, and photo session.
