As part of events to mark the 60th Anniversary (53rd) Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos, a colourful and creatively unforgettable Stage Play written by Professor Femi Osofisan, titled “Èṣù and the Vagabond Minstrels”, entertained the University audience.
The 2-hour performance was held in the evening of Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, under the auspices of Creative Arts Department of the University.
The Director of the play is Dr. Felix Damilola Emoruwa. This is the third time Dr. Emoruwa is overseeing a convocation play having directed Otun Rasheed’s “From Idi-Araba” to Akoka in 2013 and Felix Okolo’s “The Walking Stick’ in the 2014/15 graduating set. His latest role as Director of Femi Osofisan ‘s “Esu and the Vagabond Minstrels” this year had Tumilara Owolabi (300-level) as the Stage Manager while the Art Illustration was adapted from a design by Solomon Adekunle O. AKA SÓFÓ (400 Level).
It was an outing which had the University’s management team led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola FAS, students and staff in attendance.

The play was not only pedagogical but demonstrated creativity and lessons that speak volumes of the efficacy of the genres of literature as performed by the Creative Art Department of the University.
