The Mayor of the German City of Schmalkalden, Thomas Kaminski, has congratulated the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, on her appointment as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos.
An alumnus of the University of Lagos and Representative of the Mayor, Mr. Ola Alayande, delivered the Letter of Congratulations to Professor Ogunsola at her office in the Senate Building.
Speaking on behalf of the Mayor, Mr Alayande expressed confidence in the capacity of Professor Ogunsola to provide excellent leadership to UNILAG as a top African university.
“We are confident that great things will emerge, guided by your insight and compassion for innovation and learning.
We look forward to a continuous fruitful relationship with you and your institution, and wish you the very best as you take in this important role and the transform the University to meet the challenges of the 21st Century”, he said.
In response, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the Mayor and the City of Schmalkalden for their kind gesture. She spoke highly of the areas of current collaborations that exist between the City and the University of Lagos, affirming the determination of her administration to strengthen them.
Director of the Office of International Relations and Partnerships, and Prospect (IRPP), Professor Ismail Ibrahim, was also present at the visit.
