UNILAG VC meets Bursary Staff, propagates Solution Framework

Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, says no effort will be spared in growing the university’s workforce, infrastructure, finances and reputation.

Through this Solution framework, Professor Ogunsola says UNILAG will be better positioned for more strategic impact, global visibility and relevance.

Speaking at the Senate Chamber on Thursday, December 1, 2022 during a meeting with staff of the university’s Bursary Unit led by the University Bursar, Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Adekunle, the Vice-Chancellor used the avenue to solicit their input and cooperation in the task of building UNILAG into a 21st Century University.

Prof. Ogunsola gave a breakdown of her 5-year mission as Vice-Chancellor which she tagged, “Future Ready Agenda” and identified every member of staff in Bursary unit as strategic partners especially in achieving Financial Re-engineering.

She acknowledged the diligence of the Bursary in generating, managing and allocating financial resources over the decades, one which she said has kept UNILAG off the list of anti-graft agencies.

The Professor of Medical Microbiology assured of her readiness to harness every available potential across all offices, units, departments and directorates in the university. She therefore advocated a more positive, open minded and professionalised approach to duties among the bursary staffers, charging them to see their outputs as investments which would outlive their years of service in the university.

Earlier in her remarks, the University Bursar, Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Adekunle had solicited the cooperation of the entire staff strength towards creating what she called a first-class financial system powered by technology and accurate financial reportage.

Mrs. Adekunle who also took the entire gathering through her vision and agenda noted that more efforts would be channelled towards improving the budgetary and funds allocation system, revenue enhancement through cost reduction and cost recovery, improvement of structures for greater efficiency, maximizing alternative sources of income generation as well as responsive and responsible reporting.

The Bursar also called for improved communication between the bursary staff and other stakeholders especially students, staff and other vendors with a view to achieving better bursary experience.
