The Department of Chemistry hosted the Conference on Environmental Health Sciences with the theme: Land degradation, Ecosystem health, and Climate change.
The event which held from November 21 – 23, 2022 was declared open by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Folasade Ogunsola, FAS who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Prof. Bola Oboh.
The Vice-Chancellor in her remarks expressed that the theme of the conference was very important due to the current serious environmental challenges facing our world and the need to create research-based solutions; educate the general public on the dangers of wrong treatment of the earth; promote advocacy and policy formulations on conservation of our environment amongst others.

There were several keynote addresses, plenary sessions presented by experts from different part of the world and an In-conference workshop on e-waste.
The event also had Research outcomes presented by various researchers.
Also at the event were the Dean of the Faculty of Science: Prof Elijah Oyeyemi; HoD Chemistry: Prof Olusegun Ayejuyo, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Prof Kehinde Olayinka and Prof. Olayinka Asekun.
