A Service of Songs was held at the residence of the former Dean of Student Affairs of the University of Lagos, Professor Tunde Babawale, in honour of his late wife, Chief (Mrs) Doris Adetola Babawale on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, led members of the University Management to the event. The immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, was also present.

The event witnessed an outpour of emotion-laden tributes. Mrs Sileola Elizibue, sister of the deceased, described her as a pillar of encouragement for her. She declared the immortal niché she had carved in her heart with her wise counselling and her act of selfless giving.

Ms. Titilayo, a friend to the deceased, described her as one who showed her that true friendship transcends blood relations. “She was a woman dedicated to duties. She was a true friend and a woman devoted to her family. Her life is worth emulating”, she said.
Mrs. Augusta identified herself as a forty-two-year friend of the late Mrs Babawale. “To say I miss her will be an understatement. I pray that God will give her family the fortitude to bear the loss”.
Reverend Harold Chinonyerem who officiated the event charged everyone present to reflect on the truth that it is not the number of years spent on earth that matters, but their relationship with God and the legacies left after death leave.

“The best way to define immortality is to live in the heart and the lips of men positively. Every one of us has bus stop; and when the clock stops, our legacies are what continue. As far as God is concerned about the deceased, what matters to Him is what she had done while on earth.”
At the end of the solemn event, Mrs Sileola Elizibue gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the Adepetu and Babawale families.
