Showers of Encomium Continue as Distance Learning Institute Celebrates Outgoing Vice-Chancellor

Showers of praise and commendations continued to pour on the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS as the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) hosted a reception in his honour on Monday, October 31, 2022.

The memorable event, which was held at the Nurudeen Alao Auditorium, had in attendance members of Management and the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS.  Directors, Acting Directors, senior administrators, academic and non-teaching staff of the Institute were present.

Speaking at the occasion, the Director of the Institute, Professor Uchena Udeani commended Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe for his visionary leadership and also thanked members of Management for supporting him to achieve his lofty dreams for the University.

Her words: “Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe is a focused, motivated, and global-oriented individual under whose watch the DLI has transformed into the best distance learning school in Nigeria, and one of the best in Africa. He is a promoter of good ideas, and with his steady motivation, our DLI is now at par with sister faculties in the main campus in terms of opportunities.”

The Chairman of the DLI Board, Professor Abayomi Okanlawon thereafter led a retinue of staff and students of the Institute who paid tributes to the Vice-Chancellor. They all expressed their appreciation for his support for the Institute and wished him well in his future endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor, in his response, thanked God for the opportunity to serve the University of Lagos; and also, every single member of the University Community who contributed their quota to making his tenure a success.

“I thank God for bringing us this far. He alone deserves the glory. I also thank everyone of you, starting from members of Management to every single member of the University Community who cooperated with us to make our success possible. I therefore urge you to give the same support to the incoming Vice-Chancellor so that our institution can continue to scale greater heights.”

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, is the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos and his tenure ends on Friday, November 11, 2022.
