UNILAG Partner Lagos State Scholarship Board for Student Bursary and Scholarship Awards

The Lagos State Scholarship Board has given an assurance of its readiness to partner with the University of Lagos for the disbursement of bursary and scholarship awards to students of the University who are indigenes of Lagos State.

This was made known on Thursday, October 20, 2022 during a courtesy visit of executive members of the Scholarship Board to the University Management. Led by the Board Secretary, Mr. Abdul Rahman Lekki, the team was received by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe and other principal officers of the University.

According to Mr. Lekki, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration is determined to ensure that students who are indigenes of the State benefit from its State bursary and scholarship programmes.

The scribe revealed that efforts were being put in place to support Doctoral research work among indigenes of the State. He requested the University Management to make available opportunities for more students particularly indigent and disabled students in the program.

While emphasising that the commitment of Lagos state Government is also providing and maintaining equal opportunities especially for physically challenged students, Mr. Lekki urged the University Management to provide necessary data that the team can work on.

In response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS expressed appreciation to the Board for the visit. He noted his commitment to creating immense support towards enhancing skill acquisition, development and promotion of the potentials of students through various programmes that are locally relevant and internationally acceptable.

He assured the team of the university’s readiness to support the programmes of the Board, particularly as it is aimed at youth development in the State. He informed the Board that data for indigenes, indigents and brilliant students are readily accessible and will be forwarded to the Board a soon a possible by the Dean, Students Affairs Division.
