UNILAG Sports Centre Commemorates Independence Day Anniversary with ‘6,000 Seconds’ Fitness Drill

A large gathering of fitness enthusiasts defied the early showers of Saturday, October 1, 2022, to take part in the “6, 000 Seconds of Strength, Endurance, and Cardio” event organised by the University of Lagos Sports, Recreation, Keep-Fit and Wellness Centre.

Held at the Indoor Sports Hall, the early morning event had in attendance the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, many other members of management, staff, students and alumni of the University.

For 6,000 seconds (One Hour, Forty Minutes) non-stop,  participants were taken through drills of endurance and cardio exercises. They moved in synchronisation to the rhythm of Nigerian hit songs, played  to ensure their coordination and entertainment.  

Awards of recognition were given to the members of management and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Sports Centre, Professor Afolabi Lesi.

The “6,000 Seconds of Strength, Endurance, and Cardio” event was conceived by Mr. Gbenga Akinpelu of Benfit International. It has recorded ten editions, since it commenced in 2016.
