Akintunde Ojo set to take a new look as VC agrees to vertical extension

As part of his mandate to enable Infrastructural development as well as facilitate services needed to help improve learning and research culture, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, on Friday April 1, 2022, handed over the project site for the vertical extension of the Akintunde Ojo Library to construction firm, Platform Concept Limited.

He remarked on the importance of the project. The Professor of Botany described the latest development in the university as good enough to change the scope of learning and research experience of both students and staff.

He revealed that the vertical extension will house the proposed Centre of Excellence for Environmental Standards and Social inclusion at the University of Lagos.

The Principal Head, Platform Concept Limited, Arch Patrick Ehinmowo thanked the University management for the opportunity to be the building company in charge of the 8-week assignment. He assured of great quality and that the project would be completed in due course.

The signing of agreement and handing over of the proposed Centre witnessed the presence of the newly appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics and Reserach, Prof. Bola Oboh, a former Director, Research and Innovation office and representative of the Nigerian Erosion Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP National Coordinator, Prof. Wellington Oyibo; Coordinator, Works and Physical Planning, Engineer Akinwande and some other top officials of the university.

The work at the site is expected to commence immediately from the date of handover to the end of 31st of May 2022.
